The European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF), an annual event co-organised by EUA, ENQAEURASHE and ESU supported by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme, is the European conference on quality assurance in higher education that brings together all of the key stakeholders in the field – higher education institutions, quality assurance agencies and students. The 5th  EQAF was held in Lyon, 18-20 November 2010, and was dedicated to the motto “Building bridges – making sense of QA in European, national and institutional contexts. EMTRAIN hold a workshop session there.

EMTRAIN will establish a pan- European, free, web-based course catalogue which will capture relevant courses in the biomedical sciences. This catalogue will be a broad repository of courses and will flag those that meet a set of quality criteria. These quality criteria need to be consistent with the quality principles which have been developed for university programmes in Europe, and also meet the needs of biomedical professional bodies and the pharmaceutical industry. We have developed a draft set of quality criteria and the workshop at the EQAF will serve to discuss these with experts in the field. This will enable us to produce robust criteria acceptable to all stakeholders.
