My description of on-course®
on-course® provides a comprehensive picture of postgraduate biomedical education and training in Europe.
It serves as the most efficient search tool in this respect, allowing me and others to find courses which match my needs and also constraints
(time, cost, travel, language, etc.) through relevant filters and search terms.
It has been developed and is maintained by people who 'sit in the same boat',
be it as course providers, as course seekers, as employers, as professional bodies or as an individual biomedical professional no matter to which sector he/she belongs.
This is certainly the reason why it's such a perfect fit for purpose.
Recognising that there is still room for improvement and optimisation,
on-course® has been the answer to the biomedical research community in Europe and elsewhere for career planning and optimised continuing professional development.
Features I would recommend for the new release of on-course®
I hope for the following improvements/additions:
- easier handling of keyword based searches (the long drop-down lists have been a bit clumsy and time-consuming)
- more guidance for my career planning
- more extended information on recognition, accreditation, acknowledgement schemes
- job posts
- automated alerts on upcoming courses in areas of my interest
- information about trends and gaps
- more interactions with peers, colleagues, experts, etc.
- user-based ratings of courses that I can refer to
- tailored information on scholarship and bursary opportunities and free of charge courses (particularly when on-line).
